What’s Up Wednesday [07.29.20]

Today, I’m doing another fun link up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To where we recap the month with a little this and that! I love these kind of posts – they also make me happy because someday, I can look back at these little “journal” excerpts showing a glimpse of our lives lately!

What We’re Eating This Week…

We’ve had a wild unorganized week so far. We’re having salmon tonight – you can read all about how my husband makes restaurant quality grilled salmon here.

PEACHES!!!

The peach truck made it’s stop through town and we’ve been eating a million peaches a day!

I’m looking forward to making a yummy peach cobbler with them!

We’ve been enjoying these snack-uterie boards a lot!

Maybe we’ll make these zucchini roll-ups that are delish later this week!

What I’m Reminiscing About

Date Nights

It’s been FOREVER since having one – with COVID, kids, chaos – it’s easy for them to get lost in the shuffle! Being at a bridal shower out on the lake made we really want to sit and enjoy a nice date with hubs!

Look at this view!

This Sandwich…

Weird but true! We are headed back to Northern Michigan for vacation next month and a trip here might be necessary. This sandwich from Shipwreck Cafe is a MUST. It’s their Fitzgerald sandwich – turkey, provolone, bacon, lettuce, cucumber, tomato and herbed mayo served on a yummy pretzel roll!

These chips were pretty amazing too!

Time with Friends and Family

Mostly reminiscing about recent parties, trips and celebrations with our friends and family. It’s hard getting all our friends together, but whenever we do – it makes us SO happy and fills us up!

What I’m Loving…

Garage Sales

I’ve gone to a handful of garage sales and have been LOVING them! I can’t wait to share how I’ve repurposed some of the items we found on my Thrifty Thursday post tomorrow!

This polish could be my ALL time summer fav!

Mad Woman – Sally Hansen

It is a GORGEOUS hot pink and right up my alley!

Of course, top it off with the Miracle Gel Top Coat – I’ve been loving this DIY nail set forever! So affordable and my nails look great every time!

Hats

Speaking of Thrifty Thursday, I’ve been finding a ton of hats at our local supermarket chain for $1.99 and have loved wearing them for sun protection.

They also help cover up a bad hair day!

Sunscreen Caddy

As mentioned above, I’ve been starting to protect myself better from the sun and I shared some of our favorite sun protective items earlier this month!

Here are some of our favorite sunscreens we’ve been using recently:

Alba Botanica – Hawaiian Sunscreen

I LOVE the smell of this sunscreen! I apply this all over my body and save this for my face…The kids also request this spray too. Great reviews and EXTREMELY affordable!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen

This sunscreen does not leave a white residue or leave my skin feeling greasy. I use this on my face and occasionally will put it on my shoulders if I need extra protection

Neutrogena Sunscreen Stick

The kids absolutely love this – I lather it on their faces, nose, ears. Its super easy to rub on and they don’t mind me doing it at all!

Here are some of our favorite swim protective items:

Suit Solutions

Since purchasing some bathing suits I actually care about – I’ve been looking to ways to protect them. In the past, my suits would become see-through, stretched out and crunchy!

What We’ve Been Up To…

Slowing Down

My husband and I have been talking a lot about slowing down. We are very go, go, go and it is SO important to just take some time to relax and not get worked up about all the things!

I went and got a massage yesterday because I’ve been getting migraines recently. I’m pretty sure tension in my neck and back are causing these and I will say getting a massage was an absolute dream!

Flowers Galore!

Too much yard work…

My cousin’s husband came over and took down a dead tree in our yard in literally 5 minutes. Cleanup was not fun especially when our humidity has been through the roof!

What I’m Dreading…

Final Months of Summer

Don’t get me wrong, I love fall – but summertime is just incredible and I get so sad when it flies right on by!

What I’m Working On…

Improving my Blog

I celebrated ONE YEAR since launching this blog and I’m looking to improve it big time!

I would like to be better on social, but it’s such a love/hate relationship with me!

Cut Flower Garden

And ways I can improve it going forward! July is when it all comes to life! Right now and throughout August and September is when I have SO much fun with the garden and get to share these flowers with friends and family!

What I’m Excited About…

Higgins Lake

A family vacation to northern Michigan – enjoying the peace and beauty of nature!

What I’m Watching/Reading…

The Island

This book was super cute and such an easy summer read! A mother, her daughters and their aunt spend a whole month on Tuckernuck Island (an exclusive, no frills island off Nantucket) after the daughter breaks off the wedding and the groom-to-be had an unexpected deadly accident. The daughter is crushed given the series of events and their girls trip to the island was the perfect thing they needed to heal and rejuvenate each of their lives!

Heat Wave

I am loving this book right now! It is about a newly widowed woman and mother of two and how she handles obstacles (mostly from a financial standpoint) after her husband passes. She decides to open a Bed and Breakfast in their house and finds that fulfills her and helps her move forward. There is also a relationship that brews, which she is unsure about moving forward with just given the recency of it all.

What I’m Wearing…

Old Navy has been my JAM recently! I’m not sure if its because I am 5’2 and their clothes fit short people good, but I’m loving it!

I wore this jumpsuit to my girlfriend’s bridal shower and loved how comfortable it was! Paired with a nude heel – this outfit was SO simple!

This French Terry Striped Top is SO comfortable and the perfect summer casual top! Paired with Old Navy’s White Jeans (which are so comfortable and flattering by the way!)- perfection!

Then I got excited for fall and paired with these wedge shoes!

I LOVE these jean shorts! They are long, but not SUPER long (3.5″ inseam) and they fit just right!

Ruffle Hem Dress

I LOVE this little dress! I wore this for my husband’s 30th Birthday party and loved how comfortable and feminine it was! Paired with some espadrilles – a perfect summer outfit.

What I’m Doing This Weekend…

N O T H I N G…but who are we kidding, we will probably find something to fill our days!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month…

Preschool for Audrey

Audrey is red-shirting and doing preschool again. Ultimately, I am happy with our decision as she would be the youngest in Kinder. I also am looking forward to spending more time with her. Once school starts – it doesn’t stop for a LONGGGG time! I want to embrace these years!

What Else is New??

I think we covered it all!

I’m obsessed with your Old Navy finds! I’m 5 feet even and I also agree their length works well for me. I think I need that jumpsuit. Congratulations on your one year blogging anniversary too. You’re blog is amazing and I love all you have to share.
