What to Do with Kids – Week Seven Winter Activity Ideas

Good morning! I’ve been MIA on here, but I also needed a break! Sharing this post super late, but needed some time to focus on myself and really got slammed with invite orders as of recent – which is a good thing! Today, I’m sharing week seven of our “What to Do: Winter Activity Ideas”. We’ve been enjoying these activities and it is a great way to switch things up! Hope these give you some ideas and would love to hear any boredom busters you use at your house!

Sharing this week’s ideas and a description of each! Hope you have some fun with these boredom busters!

Play Pictionary

We LOVE playing Pictionary. We have a dry erase board in our basement and we split into two teams (giving the kids something easy to draw!) Audrey is at a great age where it is fun to see how she makes the word come to life!

Make a Family Recipe from Scratch

This would be a fun way to teach your kids about your heritage. Ask your parents or grandparents for the recipe of one of your favorite meals (particularly one that has been passed down from generation to generation) and make it with your kiddos! For example, my Grandma has a delicious sweet roll recipe that I’m sure the kids would love, my MIL makes amazing homemade perogies and my Dad has perfected my Grandma’s coffee cake!

Play-Doh Challenges

The kids love to play with Play-doh and this would be a great way to switch things up and make it a bit more exciting. You could either write out some ideas on cards and have them pick from the pile or just challenge them to make an object of your choosing. Some ideas would be:

  • Make your favorite animal
  • See who roll out the longest piece
  • Make your favorite food, fruit, veggie, etc.
  • Challenge them to make a certain shape

Spa Night

My daughter loves to give me a makeover so making an evening dedicated to doing nails, hair and makeup would be fun! You could also go to a nail salon for a ladies night out if you would prefer!

Make Edible Cookie Dough

This sounds incredible and I know the kids would love making their own dough adding sprinkles, candies and chocolates!

We made the sugar cookie dough and it was SO good very very filling, so you’ll want to freeze the remaining to eat another day!
