What I Made Wednesday – Homemade Ice Cream Cake

Good morning and happy Wednesday! I cannot believe we are approaching the end of July – absolute craziness! With summer in full swing and get togethers/events filling every weekend, it can be a lot to keep up with. So today, I’m sharing a super easy and delicious dessert to make for guests, cookouts, parties or just for pleasure at home with the family! This Ice Cream Cake can be whipped together in no time and is completely customizable.

This was one of my Grandmas go to recipes. She would always make it with crushed Whoppers malted milk balls (a little different then what I use here), but I decided to switch things up based on what I had available! This dessert is SO easy to make and very inexpensive.

You can be as creative as you want with this dessert. I’ve made this using mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches and mint Oreos, neapolitan ice cream sandwiches, chocolate magic shell sauce – YUM, sooo many options!!

  • 12 Ice Cream Sandwiches
  • 1 container of Hot Fudge
  • 8 oz Cool Whip (thawed)
  • 15 Oreos (crushed)

Unwrap the ice cream sandwiches and position in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan.

Next, place Oreo cookies or whatever candy/cookie you prefer in a zip lock bag and crush them

Heat up your fudge then spread on top of the ice cream sandwiches.

You could also use the chocolate magic dessert shell if you would like, for that option – crush your Oreos in a bag, layer the crushed Oreo pieces on top of the ice cream sandwiches. Heat up the magic shell sauce according the instructions on the product, then pour over the top of the crushed Oreos. Let it set before the next step…

Next – spread your Cool Whip topping over the top – sprinkle with additional candy and cookies or decorate to your liking!

Place in the freezer for a couple hours at least before serving!

This cold, sweet treat is creamy and rich in chocolaty flavor! DELISH!
