Tip Jar: Home Cleaning Schedule

My, my, my…what a crazy end of the year it was. I am so happy to start “fresh” in this new year! Routines have been out of wack for the the last quarter of 2019 and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get things back in order around the house!

My main goals around the house this year: maintain a clean kitchen EVERY DAY, keep up with the house in terms of de-cluttering and reorganization and stick to my cleaning checklist. At the beginning of last year – I pulled together multiple cleaning checklists and used them to put together a thorough home maintenance schedule that worked!

I was inspired after receiving a cleaning service mailer. The cleaning company showed their cleaning to do list broken down by each room. I will say, I was so tempted to give them a call and set them up for regular visits, but I really thought I am a totally capable human being – especially now that I am a stay at home Mom (which isn’t easy might I add!).

After reviewing that checklist and several others on Pinterest, I refined and customized my own home cleaning schedule that was realistic and fit exactly what I wanted to accomplish on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. I know structure was what I needed and a manageable list of to-do’s that did not get overwhelming or forgotten.

Back when I was working, things would get out of hand very quickly around the house and I felt like our weekends – which should have been family time – turned into nonstop reorganization and cleaning catch-up. I vowed that now that I was no longer working, I still wanted weekends to be family time – so I tailored the schedule to make Saturday a “catch up” day. Any task that was not completed during the week, could be finished at this time.

I also set it up where there are no to-do’s on Sunday. Other than the daily to do’s that we try to follow every day.

Whether you are a working Mom/Dad, stay at home Mom/Dad or a new homeowner trying to keep up with it all, I hope this list can help you in your efforts for keeping and maintaining a clean/organized home. While a cleaning service is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, this cleaning schedule is completely manageable, free and easy to get into a structured routine after doing it a couple months!

Wishing you a happy new year!
