Thrifty Thursday – Spring Clothing Haul – Creating Capsules for the kiddos

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you! Hope you are able to enjoy a beer and a corned beef sandwich, I know that’s what I plan on doing tonight! For today’s thrifty Thursday, I’m sharing (yet again!) how I shop for my kids clothing. I shared a toddler clothing capsule on Black Friday because that’s when I do a MAJOR winter clothing haul at Kohl’s. You can also check out last year’s spring clothing haul post. I absolutely love the Jumping Beans brand – it’s affordable, very basic and has ALL the essentials!

I also try to make capsule wardrobes, which is essentially having pieces that can be mixed and matched creating EVEN MORE outfits. My kids like to feel comfortable and live in active wear all summer long, so those are the main items I purchase. Having all the staples in the closet is my main goal of a clothing haul! It’s all about doctoring up the basics!

In case you haven’t been here, I do two seasonal clothing hauls every year – spring (to prep for warm weather and summer!) and Black Friday (my winter clothing haul). I obviously look out for big time sales at the end of the season and stock up on those items for the following year (think coats, boots, dresses, swimwear, etc.), but those are generally random pieces of clothing.

When I do these hauls, I go through the kids’ closets and take inventory of what we have for the upcoming season. My daughter has grown like a weed this past year and all her pants were WAYYY too short! I pretty much have to restock everything which was so crazy to me!

Sharing my go-to Jumping Beans goodies (a couple items from Walmart and Target too) that can go with anything or be dressed up/down! All you need are a handful of tops and bottoms, some pieces of clothing that go with everything (i.e. jeans, khakis, etc.) and it’s mix and matching all summer long! One thing I love about Jumping Beans is all the color options they have (My daughter loves pink and my son is blue and grey, shown below, but they have SOO many more colors to chose from) and you can really mix and match anything!
