Let’s Look: What’s in our Medicine Cabinet

Good morning and happy Wednesday! Today is a Let’s Look prompt where we link up with Shay from Mix and Match Mama blog and Erica from A Little Bit of Everything blog. I’m super excited about all the topics this year – they are just so creative and fun! So kind of them to do these link up parties!

Today’s topic is, what’s in our medicine cabinet. We have TWO “medicine cabinets” – one that keeps my vitamins and natural supplements, which I like to try natural remedies before going to meds (particularly for myself), fever reducers, allergy meds, etc.

Our other “medicine cabinet” houses all the things needed for first aid, cuts, band-aids, thermometers, essential oils, vapor bath supplies, etc.

Before I share pictures of my med cabinets, I do always keep these items stocked in the house – especially during the school year! You can read all about my favorite items to have around when sick here!

Our medicine cabinet downstairs is in the kitchen and high up so the kiddos cannot reach it.

I also tend to keep some Tylenol and Motrin upstairs in case any kiddo needs some in the middle of the night so I’m not having to go downstairs!

Nine times outta ten, I’m always buying off brand tylenol and Motrin alternatives. They are the same exact thing and a fraction of the price!

The cabinet above our microwave holds all my “medicines”. I have tried to shift to more natural ways of “healing” and my chiropractor referred me to a lot of these supplements. Most of the supplements help boost my immune system and eliminate inflammation!

Our upstairs closet has a bit more. This is where we keep all our first aid products. I organized bins in the following system:

  • Bandaids, Neosporin, gauze, alcohol pads, liquid skin bandaid
  • Next is my “sick bin” – thermometers, vapor rubs, saline, pink eye ointment, etc.
  • I have a bin that holds all things for skin rashes or cuts – Vaseline, hydrocortisone, etc.
  • Finally, a bin for liquids – witch hazel, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide

And that’s all we’ve got! Tell me, is there a go-to med product you can’t live without?!

I rarely keep much of anything on hand as I find that whenever anyone gets sick with anything I need to run to the store anyway. Either to get some special/favorite foods or else because all the medicine is already expired. The only thing I make sure to always have on hand is Motrin. I try to keep other things like throat lozenges and Nyquil on hand too but thankfully we aren’t sick all that often. We do take a wide variety of vitamins and supplements though.
