Motherhood Monday: One on One time

Happy Monday to you! I’m sure all my Northeast Ohio friends & even Midwesterners enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this past weekend. My gosh, did it feel so good! I honestly think a gained a tinge of sun tan from laying in the sun in our front room! I can’t tell you what that sun does for my mood though!

Today is Motherhood Monday where I share a bunch of randomness related to motherhood, parenting. Today, I’m sharing something that has come up A LOT in our home recently with Audrey in particular. That is one on one time.

Now our family of 5 does almost everything together! We love doing things as a family! Our kids are at the ages where there love doing things with us. This makes Andrew and I so so happy and we realize how precious this time is. We also have come to realize how important it is to give each kiddo their own personalized one on one attention.

Recently, Audrey has been mentioning that she just wants to play with me or Andrew solo without having to “share us with the boys”. It really made Andrew and I feel so bad and we’ve agreed, we need to do better taking the kids out on “dates”.

Andrew and I decided we should sit down and come up with a better schedule with this and get things planned. Here are some of ideas for one-on-one child “dates” (and I would love to hear any suggestions from you!).

Doing some of their favorite things
Joining in their favorite activities (the other parent takes care of the other kiddos during this time) Sometimes just being present to watch them play makes them happy!
Take them out to breakfast, lunch or dinner
Take them to a coffee shop or cafe
Do we break them out of school for a hooky day or for lunch once in the school year
Take them to a sporting event
Go to a tea parlour
Go out for ice cream
Go bowling
Do a cooking class
Get nails done
Go fishing
Go on a hike
Let one child stay up 30 minutes past bedtime

Write in a Mommy and Me Journal – we’ve been using these!
MY FIRST MOM & SON JOURNAL // LOVE MOM & ME

Go a walk together
Have one child help with dinner – start to finish!
Play the quarter game – flip coins to figure out what to do for the night (Heads – ice cream Tails – smoothies, etc., etc!)
Paint nails at home

Excited to start doing some of these things on a monthly basis! It is so extremely important and I know the kids will just feel so loved!
