Life Lately: What’s Going On!

Oh my goodness, I seriously cannot believe I’ve been gone for a week on here. Honestly, that was not planned and I have no clue how this happened, but I figured I would play catch up on here and share what we’ve been up to lately!

Last week my husband turned 30! We enjoyed some pizza (his favorite) and sherbet to celebrate – along with a HUGE candle!

Cannot wait for the BIG celebration this upcoming weekend!

We’ve been spending a lot of time out in the yard working on some projects we had on our to do list for this summer. Each year we have an idea of certain projects/to-do’s we want to take on and we definitely hit the ground running this past week/weekend!

Play date at the river!

The kids and I met my brother and sister-in-law up at the park near their house. We headed down to the river and enjoyed some time playing, splashing and exploring in the water! It was so much fun and just what we needed to start out the week after a super to-do list filled weekend!

More landscaping updates!

Of course I bribed my husband to add another “raised” bed next to our garage. I wanted to see some color/greenery next to that garage. I LOVE what we ended up putting there!

Speaking of raised garden beds – I think my cut flower garden will start producing BIG time in the next couple weeks! Look how full they are!

This little bouquet Audrey put together for her room – super cute!

Date night at Costco

Who would’ve thunk this would be considered a “date” night. We had to run out to Costco for party supplies and we realized we haven’t been on a date or alone in FOREVER. We took a pizza to go and “cheer’s” to having some time to chat uninterrupted! One of these days we will go out to dinner – but for now, just too much going on! We do know that time together is super important, but like we said – he is home every day now 🙂

Gazebo and Deck Staining

Last month, I shared our newly painted/stained pool deck

My Father-in-Law and husband finished up the final staining task – our gazebo!

I am SOOOO happy with how these things turned out!

Speed Reading

I sped through the final half of “The Island” in basically 3 days (which is a big deal for me!) My book was due yesterday and I HAD to finish because there was a wait list. Thank goodness I did, I was really interested to see how things shook out for the characters! Super fun and easy summer read – it had me wanting more all the way to the last page!

Visiting Gigi

Oh my goodness we have missed my Grandma! We’ve been hesitant to go over and finally went! You can tell seeing the kids just brightened up her day – not to mention the crown we gave her! It was nice to hang out on her back porch and have the kids run around her yard!

Snake Sighting….

So this happened. HORRIFYING! I nearly stepped on this 3.5′ snakes’ head. Sharing all the details below because this isn’t super common in Ohio and I was totally expecting the worst the entire time!

He blends right in! I was going to check pool chemicals and the temperature with T and as I’m walking away, I heard a “rattling” type noise. So I turn around look down in the area the noise was coming and BAM – there it was! It made my skin crawl – first off, I DO NOT like snakes – second, I just barely stepped on it’s head no joke so no wonder why he was ticked and third, I could have been bit!

I yelled up to Andrew that there was a rattle snake in our yard and he sprinted down from his desk so fast! He’s never seen a snake out in the wild before (random: I’ve now seen two in the past month in my lifetime!) We got a long stick and tried to place it elsewhere, but he got away.

Naturally, I’m freaking out, we need to find out if this guy was dangerous or not and of COURSE there were 3 options that looked extremely similar to the snake we just encountered, one being very VENOMOUS! I called the Game Warden, they suggested sending the picture to a person they use regularly to handle these situations – turns out all our guesses were wrong and it was a Milk Snake… non venomous, people have them as pets… So much hype and worry for a friendly fellow so I was relieved. Ugh, nevertheless, we’ve been keeping an eye out and trying to eliminate things that might draw him closer to our house – will share more of those dets later!

And there you have it – playing a little catch up! Sorry for being ABSENT! There has been so much happening, but this month I am working on being more scheduled with my posts – looking forward to it!
