Let’s Look: At Cleaning Our Closets

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today is a Let’s Look prompt where we link up with Shay from Mix and Match Mama blog and Erica from A Little Bit of Everything blog. I’m super excited about all the topics this year – they are just so creative and fun! So kind of them to do these link up parties!

Today’s topic is, how we clean our closets. I plan to share our closet (nothing to write home about), but the true star is Audrey’s “closets”. She has the best organization going on and I’m so jealous! I am also going to share our mudroom closet, because I just reorganized that over winter break!

Okay, lets have a look at our master bedroom closet shall we?

Guys, I’d be lying if I said I had a super clean and organized closet. I’d also be lying if I said I loved our closet. The one thing I miss about our old house, was the big walk in master closet. This was a major transition for us and my poor boys have to deal with my dresses in their closets as there is no space in mine!

My closet space is beyond annoying to clean! There is not a whole lot of space to fit my over sized clothing wardrobe and the closet system is not super functional. Do I want to redo it, YES! But, we are working with what we own!

Over winter break I reorganized our messy closet. Our master closet is not very big and therefore you think it would be easy to clean, WRONG! I am struggling to hang things and most times, I’m shoving things all over the place! Poor Andrew has very little space as I take up most of the space!

I do have a bin that holds seasonal clothes that I swap out shorts, big sweaters, etc. There you have it, our master closet!

Okay next up are Audrey’s closets – my favorite! They are super easy to keep organized and clean.

For her closet, she has bins holding certain toys, we keep her bedding and Christmas decor in there too. We also have a school system. This was an old collapsible closet organization system from my Mom. I decided to put it to good use and have Audrey put all her school clothes in this unit. It makes for easy mornings where she can get herself ready!

Her other closet is a very large piece of furniture I garage saled YEARS ago! The previous owner used to store a TV in it, but I thought it would make an awesome dresser!

Anyway, this thing DOES make a great dresser, but it was SO HARD to keep organized. We purchased these organizer bins and now she has one for t-shirts, long sleeves/hoodies, nicer tops, pants, dressy pants, and shorts/skorts. She has done an amazing job keeping her dresser clean now that she knows where everything goes!

We even bought matching drawer dividers that store her underwear, socks, bathing suits and pjs!

And last but not least! Our mudroom closet!

Our mudroom. It used to be a disaster because our shoes would not fit in this closet with our previous configuration. SO, I FINALLY bought shoe shelves that could fit all our shoes.

Did I screw up the measurements? Yes, but I already assembled everything and actually prefer it this way! I am able to fit an additional rack we had previously behind the unit you see up front. The back rack has our sandals and some summer shoes, I will go ahead and rotate when the time comes!

Not pictured are the bins on the top shelf above our coats. These bins contain the kids snow bibs, our gloves and hats. These have been so convenient and makes me NOT dread snow days! Everything has a home and we are RARELY losing things!

And that’s a look at how we clean our closets!

See you back here tomorrow for some more 2024 goals!
