Goals for 2024 in Flowers & Blogging

Happy Friday everyone! The kids have ANOTHER snow day, so we are bunkering down and enjoying another day at home together! We went out to dinner last night in celebration of the snow day, so I’m behind this morning on the blogging front – and that’s OKAY! That’s the perfect segway into my goals in 2024 for my two favorite hobbies, flowers and blogging!

Last year, my flower business got even more real. Not that it wasn’t real before, but I had orders to fulfill, a group of people to get flowers delivered too, a farm that shared my flowers with the local community in their market daily, a group of growers that provide local florists with fresh blooms including mine AND a community event that ended up using my flowers as centerpieces and decorations in their “Italian Market” theme.

It was a crazy fun year and I continue to learn so much! All that craziness, though, led me to “drop the ball” on my other hobby – BLOGGING here!

Okay, let’s start with my blogging goals for 2024! Also, would LOVE suggestions on how you every day bloggers get those blogs done! What’s your secret?!

Blogging Goals

Write Content AHEAD of time!

My gosh, if I told you how many times I’ve created a blog calendar and failed to write the posts a couple days in advance….

Why is this such a problem for me?! I was doing good, but got off the rails this week! I’m hoping to get back on track!

Don’t Over Stress It

This applies to both my content and the lack of content. I need to stop stressing the post isn’t perfect! Just write what’s on your mind, I’m sure some people will relate, even if you think the post is average.

I also need not stress if I don’t get to blogging. There are SO many other important things in my life – kids, home, and my mental health, I can’t get worked up if I didn’t get my posts out. I will blog when I can blog! Who can relate?!

Have a Solid Content Calendar

Map out the month and try my best to stick to it! I have a dry erase monthly calendar that I’ve been trying to fill in and keep up with!

Also, if I keep the same topic flow from month to month, it should make it easy for me to write content, right?!

Journal my Family Life

That’s the main reason I started this blog! As a journal of sorts, to share regular life around here! Someday I will look back on this and be grateful of the things I shared!

Comment on Other Blogs!

I LOVE reading other blogs! I stink at taking the time to write a comment on other bloggers content – I want to be better at this!

Okay, now onto the flower biz. Here are some goals I have!

Flower Farming Business Goals

Create more Content on Social

I want to share more behind the scenes of my micro flower farm. People do love to see it even if I think they don’t! I also need to remember to take pictures and videos when doing these things. That’s the biggest thing, I get in my groove and forget!

Sell 90% of my Tulips

I planted 5,500 tulips this year. That’s A LOT! That’s also the difficult with buying in bulk. There are certain varieties I want, but I have to order a high amount to get them. They are cheaper, yes, but my goal this year is to get rid of 90% of them! I know I will have loss due to weather, decay, etc., but I want to keep pushing product as much as I can!

Main way I plan to do this is through the florist market! I’m hoping for big success on it this year. This was a change I made from last year!

Grow 2 new and different varieties

My goal is to try growing two different varieties this year. I feel its extremely important to switch things up from time to time, so adding two new varieties is my way to do it. I am growing lisianthus from seed, which is tricky to do and trying more ranunculous varieties this year!

Add pick up location

I would really like to add a new location for pick up! This would open my products to a different market and it would be easier to drop off product at one spot! Saves me a lot of time!

Grow better

Each year, I try to improve! Last year, I didn’t water as much as I did the year before and my garden paid the price. It did “fine”, but I want things to flourish. I want to make sure I am doing all the things. Making sure soil health is top priority! Staying on top of daily watering (sometimes twice a day) is huge!

I also want to feed my plants with the proper nutrients they need to yield big and beautiful blooms!

And there you have it! A wrap on my 2024 goals! You can check out my other posts below!
