Weekend Rewind: Storm, To-Do’s, 90th Birthday Party – 9/16/19

Good morning everyone – happy Monday! I hope you all had an amazing weekend! I can’t believe we are in mid-September now! I feel like we are trying to soak up every last bit of summer! With that being said, we had some super steamy weather to start the weekend and a large storm that went through our area!

We started our weekend by breaking out this pizza:

Literally, $2.99 and is almost better than DiGorno in my opinion!

After Friday night pizza, my Mom came over to start prepping for my Grandma’s 90th birthday party. My mom loves doing floral arrangements for parties so we went back in my garden to see what we could find and use! My Grandma’s name is Violet so the color scheme was purple – naturally!

We sprayed my Limelight Hydrangeas, some white daisies and white roses with purple floral spray – it gave an ombre type look!

Limelight Hydrangeas

This is the purple spray she bought. She has done this so many times before. It really turns out beautiful, every single time!

We also purchased this balloon inflator to have balloons flank each side of the door at the barn the party was at, but plans to test it out were suddenly crushed when a massive storm blew through our area knocking out power until early hours of the morning. I was so excited to see how it would work, but my Mom said it was super simple to do! I’ll have to find out more about it and share with you sometime! Here are the products she used to make it!

We purchased these balloons to match the floral arrangements, plates, etc.!

These are the balloon strips used to make the balloon “arch/garland” – basically you run the balloon knots through the holes in the plastic strip and that’s how you string it all together!

I was so bummed about the power outage, but these two weren’t mad at all…

We let them “camp out” on the floor in our room.

Also, PSA!

If you don’t have a battery back-up sump pump…I would make that investment. That thing was pumping out tons of water while the power was out – thank goodness we have it because I would imagine our basement would be flooded.

Our power was restored in the early morning hours, so it was off to work to get things done for the party!

Gift Idea – Sentimental Frame

Our family wanted to make a sign for my Grandma where we came up with “90 Things About your Wonderful Life”. Basically we all sent my Mom 5-10 things that we felt described my Grandma or things she says. My Mom put the list in excel and I was in charge of the design!

We had multiple frames for her to choose from, hence the price tag $$ still there…tacky, I know!

I basically worked with the same six fonts and alternated between three colors to make this come to life! We printed it out and inserted in a pretty picture frame! I did this for my parents 30th Wedding Anniversary and they absolutely loved it! So simple, so sentimental and important for her to see all the things we love about her!

While the two boys napped, I finished the gift and did some pool maintenance. I am pushing hard to keep this thing heated and clean for more swim time. I am not giving up on summer just yet!

My husband took my daughter out for a little movie date! Lion King – her first movie at the theater!

Both came home complaining about a belly ache. I think they had way too many sweets and popcorn, ha!

Party Day

We went to church in the morning and like I shared on my Instagram – I was in charge of green bean casserole. I know how quick and easy the recipe is, so I knew I could make it last minute and have it be hot and fresh for the party!

In case you missed the final result, here it is in its cheesy, crunchy goodness!

We packed up and headed to the party and had a really great time celebrating my Grandma and seeing all our Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and their kids! I may or may not be investing in these super cool scooters my cousins kiddos brought and were riding!

We have been blessed to have our loving, spunky and funny Grandma/Gigi in our lives! Happy 90th Birthday, I hope I am lucky enough to live that long and meet my great-grandchildren someday! My kids absolutely love going to visit her and I know she enjoys it as much as they do!

Happy 90th Birthday Grandma/Gigi! We love you!

And that’s a wrap! Wishing you a great week ahead!
