Happy Monday! My goodness is this month flying by! We’ve been finding our groove over here as we navigate full time school and having another kiddo in preschool part time. It really has been great and I can’t wait to share our routine with you. Today I’m sharing a little garden update. What a growing year it has been. Oh my goodness, today’s Friday Favs includes about 10 million photos! The county fair was this past weekend and the kids were off Friday-Monday! We also had Tommy and Audrey’s birthday party, and I was just telling my husband, that feels soooo long ago!

It’s a good thing we are talking about this now rather than the beginning of summer. Summertime starts to get a little out of control. Some days I am good about planning and having dinner ready – other days we will snack and play all day outside until 7 pm rolls around and then start asking what is for dinner.

It’s the weekend over here! We have today off because of the county fair happening this weekend! As always, Labor Day weekend is PACKED for our family. There are parties, events, fairs, the airshow – so much happening, but happy to enjoy it because it kind of unofficially marks the end of summer. We are hosting family for a dual birthday party for Audrey and Tommy tomorrow morning which I am so excited about!

Happy Friday!! Day one of Kinder – CHECK! To marks the second day of school and I am surprised at how well we are doing with it! Audrey had the best first day of school and that made me so so happy. Little one was EXHAUSTED at the end of the day though!

SCHOOL. STARTS. TOMORROW. OH MY GOSH – where did this summer go?! Honestly, it flew by. Yesterday I was crying for a good portion of that day – Kindergarten is a big deal in my eyes. It’s the beginning of a new era. The next 16 years of life will involve school and the freedoms I used to have with all three kiddos in tow on a weekday are gone – well until next summer – but you get the point. I am trying to make today a great day for Audrey and also get her prepared for her first day of Kinder, but before I head out to do that, I’m sharing some things we have done already to prepare for day one.

Just in time before summer comes to a close, I’m sharing our weekend edition day in the life! I’m particularly happy to share because it was a Tommy’s birthday and we can look back and see how it was spent! Good morning friends and happy TUESDAY!! We returned home from our lake vacation late Saturday. We were so close to staying the night and coming home Sunday, but it did work out great to wake up in our beds on Sunday. On thing that we like to do is return home on Saturdays from trips. It is so great to have the day to ease into a week and have that extra day to reset!
With school starting and a couple weird instances that occurred at our house (one of them being our dehumidifier crashing in our basement) – we reached our boiling point in terms of clutter and disorganization. I will have to admit, I like to think I am pretty organized, but I’m starting to see I’m not – I think it’s all in my head! I absolutely LOVE the thought of organization and less clutter, but just cannot execute or maintain it well. I am now realizing the some of the reasons I struggle to be organized and less cluttered – 1) we have too much CRUD, which comes with having kiddos – toys and little pieces parts are everywhere! 2) Most of the clutter needs to be purged and a more “bite the bullet” approach needs to happen right up front so things don’t get out of hand.
I’ve personally noticed I will let things sit around that either A) do not have an appropriate “home” and normally refuse to put it away until I have that spot or, B) require a more extensive put away process (i.e. storage bins in basement, pulling out kids clothing bins, medical/insurance bills filing, kids mementos, decor, etc.).
So how can I help myself be more organized – by simplifying our lives! Here are some of the things we’ve been focusing on and certain ways I am forcing myself to become more organized! I would love to hear how you organize/simplify your life and household – any other tips are greatly appreciated!
