Good morning – it’s a big day over here! It’s Audrey’s birthday and I can’t wait to have some fun after school! Today I am sharing my garden update to show you what has been happening! Weeds have been KILLER and massive rains during the end of July destroyed my dahlia beds! I’m learning a lot this growing season and also trying to have fun- here’s a look around the yard!
Annuals
Okay, these beds have been taken over completely by weeds..shame on me for not mulching or getting out there consistently to weed! I’ve mentioned this before, the crazy amount of rain we got in July stunted growth BIG TIME on my Dahlias and destroyed some seedlings. I will probably opt for raised beds for everything next year, but decided to not spend a boat load of money this year (i.e. lumber, soil, etc.)
Here’s a look at our beds!
You can see what they looked like around the beginning of the month:
Now they have exploded!
Pretty little butterflies!
Sunflowers weren’t in the best spot this year, but I don’t mind the smaller blooms!
Zinnias and cosmos ready to pop!
Dahlias finally showing up to the party!
Amaranth and some sunnies planted in this bed!
Perennials
Some fun things blooming in the front bed!
Hibiscus Rose Mallow looking beautiful!
One of my favs – Autumn Joy Sedum!
Limelights are now a beautiful mauve color!
Here are how my Firelights are looking
Love this area of the garden too! The Black Eyed Susans are so fun!
Bouquets
I LLLLOOOOOVVVVEEE bouquets around this time of the year – this is truly when the garden starts coming to life showing off the best varieties and colors!

These are beautiful! Are the majority of these planted from seeds?
They are yes! About 70% of them!!
We have had such crazy amounts of rain this year and my garden has been completely neglected. There were so many (like my peonies) that never bloomed at all but look healthy and green). You make such beautiful bouquets.
