What’s Up Wednesday [02.26.20]

Today, I’m doing another fun link up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To where we recap the month with a little this and that! I love these kind of posts – they also make me happy because someday, I can look back at these and they almost serve as a little journal excerpt showing a glimpse of our lives lately!

What We’re Eating This Week…

This week does not hold the most amazing meals. Today (Ash Wednesday) will be a light meal day (most likely breakfast for dinner) and Friday night the kids are staying with their grandparents and we are out, so no dinner there either!

BBQ “Chickenless” Sandwiches – Broccoli – Berry fruit salad
Cheese Ravioli with Marinara – Salad
Mini Meatloaves – 90 second Brown Rice – Roasted Brussel Sprouts
Breakfast for Dinner

What I’m Reminiscing About…

Time flies…Not sure how BABY T is 6 months old

We love visits with Gigi!

I feel like he was just born (tears falling). One thing I wouldn’t mind forgetting is my epidural snafu during labor – but that’s a story for another day!

What I’m Loving…

We legitimately had a whole week of sunshine, which is a rarity in northeast Ohio! We enjoyed some time outside and that seriously put me in the best mood – crazy what some sunshine can do for you!

Nightly walks are almost back in full swing!

Someone ditched her bike 5 minutes in and decided she was too tired to walk…

What We’ve Been Up To…

All sorts of things! My brother is a HS Basketball Coach so we have enjoyed attending those games, some nature classes at the Children’s Schoolhouse and visits with Gigi (Great Grandma)!

What I’m Dreading…

Moving baby T to his crib for nighttime sleeping
We have been co-sleeping and I will say, it has been extremely convenient! I know he will transition fine into the crib because he naps in it 2-3 times a day. The part I am dreading is having to go calm/feed him in the middle of the night…he still wakes up 2-3 times a night. I sound lazy, yes, but I’m enjoying the convenience now!

Also getting back into a bathing suit…

What I’m Working On…

I’ve been starting to research the final logistical items needed for our vacation! Rental cars, hotels and packing lists!

I currently am working on a couple wedding invitations, but I just recently decided to do my own sample work photo shoot. I love how the pictures turned out and feel so confident in what I send potential clients now!

What I’m Excited About…

LENT
Today kicks off the Lenten season and I am ready to challenge myself and start forming better spiritual habits I can carry with me throughout the year. Lent is equivalent to forming a “New Years Resolution” for me!

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!
Longer days, more light – YES, PLEASE! The best is yet to come!

SPRING
Gardening and FLOWERS!!! I cannot wait to get back outside and start mapping out our cutting garden again!

How cute are these thrift store vases?

They can’t wait to be filled with flowers!

What I’m Watching/Reading…

McMillion$ Documentary Series

I memtionec this one on Friday Favorites, produced by Marc Walhberg, this documentary series (on HBO) is about some rigging that happened behind the scenes of the McDonald’s monopoly game and how the winners happened to all be connected… SO. INTERESTING. SO.GOOD!!!

THE BACHELOR

This season is just too good…My husband and I have been hooked and are dying to see how this all pans out!

THE PERFECT WIFE

This book was off to a little bit of a slow start for me, but now I’m into it. The wife of an AI engineer dies unexpectedly and the husband brings her back to life using technology – he has yet to tell her how she passed and has been keeping things away from her so she can’t find the answer herself…that’s about as far as I am – dying to see now this one ends!

What I’m Listening To…

I don’t listen to podcasts or much of anything other than the radio 😉
I have enjoyed listening to my husband read a couple chapters of The Magic Tree House books to our kids every night. So cute and a fun little wind down activity!

We stopped at the library last week and picked up some books for the kids. My husband and I loved these books growing up and it beats us trying to tell “scary” stories to the kids at bed time.

What I’m Wearing…

We are headed to a gala event this weekend and I was struggling with what to wear. I decided you cannot go wrong with a classic black dress – going to test out this dress

I wanted something classy and yet professional. This dress can be worn over and over again! The beauty of a black dress!

Not sure if this counts, but I’ve been wearing my natural curl recently and these are my favorite products to use

I wash my hair, brush it, put a pea sized amount of the texturing cream at the roots (rough my roots up a bit!) and run the excess on my fingers through my hair. I let my hair air dry and when it’s about 80% dry I brush my hair again (sounds weird I know, but it pulls my curls out a little more and keeps my hair untangled). Next step, spray the texturing sea salt spray all over and allow hair to finish air drying!

EXAMPLE BELOW of my hair doing this technique. Not sure if it would work for everyone, but I have been experimenting new things since high school, ha! Curly hair can throw ya for a loop.

My style is mostly dress down/comfort. High waisted black jeans and a chambray shirt (that I have owned FOREVER) for the win!

I’ve been wearing this jacket ALOT!

What I’m Doing This Weekend…

As I mentioned above, we have a gala event to attend for one of my husband’s clients out of town!

We plan to visit my sister-in-law the next morning at her college (conveniently in the same city!). I can’t wait to visit with her, check out her dorm room and take her out to breakfast – we’re looking forward to it!

We are finally getting together with my best friend, her husband and their son! We still haven’t exchanged Christmas gifts…smh!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month…

VACATION!!!!!
I cannot wait for sun, sand and warmth! We are going with my side of the family – this vacation came about rather quickly. Last year, my husband and I took the kids ourselves (it was my birthday gift) but we went in mid-April (we got a STEAL on flights!). Excited to have my parents, brothers, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews join us!

What Else is New??

Not too much other than getting excited to schedule a carpet cleaner to come take care of our living room/play room carpet. It’s the little things that get you excited as a Mom!

Hi Natasha!! So we actually have been trying to eat less meat around here lately – Aldi has Chickenless Patties that are made from soy and contain no meat! We cooked the patties and put some BBQ sauce and ranch on a bun! They are delicious and you can hardly tell the difference!
