Today, I’m doing another fun link up with Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To where we recap the month with a little this and that! I love these kind of posts – they also make me happy because someday, I can look back at these little “journal” excerpts showing a glimpse of our lives lately!
What We’re Eating This Week…
Post vacation eats calls for a detox to get back on track! We try to incorporate meatless meals at least twice throughout the week so we’ve already had oven roasted zucchini, mushrooms and onions – as for the rest of the week:
Grilled salmon
Taco night!
Omelet breakfast
Meatless buffalo chicken patty wraps
We are definitely making these Strawberry Angel Food Cakes again!
What I’m Reminiscing About
Time Flies
How is our baby ONE! I felt like that year FLEW! How on earth do we make time slow down. The summer has flown by and honestly 2020 is flying by as well – I can’t keep up.
Also, look how big all my babies are getting?!
Please never stop hugging me!!!
Vacation
Too soon to be reminiscing?!
#puremichigan
The Lake was gorgeous and the water is so clear. It is breathtaking – we spent so much time in the water floating around and the family bonding was really nice!
You can see the sandy bottom in 6ft of water – pictured below. In this photo there is a huge sand wall drop off the depth goes from 6ft to 50ft! Such cool variation in color
Speaking of floating around – my family could not get over how much Tom loves his float and the water.
It’s perfect for babes and teaches them how to kick their feet!
What I’m Loving…
My Cut Garden!!
Can you tell I have an obsession?!
Summer…Still
I’m not quite ready for fall just yet! I do love all the fall things, but I don’t want to rush it! I’m dreading what follows – WINTER!
What We’ve Been Up To…
Filling out ALL the paperwork for school
So many documents! Trying to finish it all up before parent night tomorrow…
Girl’s Night – Bracelet Making!
We had a BLAST making bracelets on vacation! They were so addicting to make – so much so that we woke up the next morning and started creating again! 10/10 recommend this activity!
So many cool color combos were made, but we mostly kept it neutral!
Except for Audrey – her bracelets were so colorful!
I saw this idea from Jaclyn at Coffee, Pancakes and Dreams and absolutely thought this would make a perfect evening activity – add a little wine *chef’s kiss*!
First off, I purchased this bead set she recommended to make some super colorful bracelets!
I purchased some gold bars, gold balls, gold & silver spacers, gold letters and basic black & white letter beads to add a different looks to the bracelets!
We loved this set of neutral colored beads
and these plain black heishi beads…
Trying to Relax
This has been hard to do, between kids on vacation, birthdays, party planning, back to school prep – August has a lot going on! We’ve been trying to squeeze a date night in, but it’s truly been impossible!
The reality of vacation with kiddos summarized in the photos below…
Assembling Bouquets!
I’ve been having so much fun making bouquets and selling them!
What I’m Dreading…
Overwintering my flower garden
Every time summer starts coming to a close I know cold weather is on the horizon and that means I have to put my garden to bed… 🙁
Andrew Sky Diving
Andrew is heading out in a couple weeks for a trip with his buddies and of course sky diving is on their agenda… It’s good for him to get the itch out of his system because I surely would never do that – but nerve racking to think about – prayers for a safe adventure!!
What I’m Working On…
Birthday Party Planning
We have so many birthdays in our family that all hit at once, so I’m trying to get things organized!
Background Research for a Potential Business Endeavor!
Keeping all the details close to me, but excited about the possibility of this idea coming to life!
Getting Organized
With all the birthdays, back to school, doctor appointments that seem to hit at once, I am trying my best to get things to a place where I’m not scrambling and follow a routine that keeps things structured around here.
What I’m Excited About…
Preschool
I am so excited for Audrey to go back to school! She is red-shirting Kinder this year (which worked out in our favor!) She is still part time school, because I don’t want to rush these days! She will be doing two full days of school and a half day on Friday!
What I’m Watching/Reading…
Beautiful Day – Elin Hilderbrand
This book is super cute! A family returns to Nantucket for a wedding and it is neat to see all the ins and outs of what is going on in each family members head! The mother of the bride passed away and left a notebook with all the wedding planning details, which she follows religiously!
Ozark
This show is a little too heavy and dark for me, but the storyline is SO GOOD I can’t stop watching! We are only a little over halfway through season one so still a lot to catch up on!
What I’m Listening To
The sound of silence after a day of non-stop chattering children 🙂
What I’m Wearing…
So many random outfits recently, but mostly athleisure… Vacation, we were bumming it a lot and mostly in our swimsuits! This one is amazing to bum around in! So comfortable and easy!
This smocked babydoll style tank was so comfortable! I love the thicker straps!
I do love these Old Navy high-waisted shorts! So comfortable and flattering!
Paired with this striped tank and shawl I found in the closeout section of our local grocery store for $2.99. I’m a sucker for shawls and ponchos!
Here are the Old Navy high-waisted linen shorts again with this vacation graphic tee
What Hubs is Wearing…
No joke – these Men’s athleisure shorts on repeat! They are so so good!
The material is so nice and smooth and length wise they hit just above the knee!
They also have these “golf” shorts in some really neat colors as well. The material is a nice stretchy fabric.
What I’m Doing This Weekend…
I’m playing in a golf outing this weekend with my Dad – for those of you that are new here, I played golf in college – looking forward to playing again!
What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month…
Preschool for Audrey
Audrey is red-shirting and doing preschool again. Ultimately, I am happy with our decision as she would be the youngest in Kinder. I also am looking forward to spending more time with her. Once school starts – it doesn’t stop for a LONGGGG time! I want to embrace these years!
What Else is New??
I think we covered it all! Have an amazing Wednesday!

Your garden is beautiful!!! I love that you are obsessed with it! I would be too! What lake were you guys at? It is so beautiful!
-Holley @ simplyholleymarie.com
Thanks Holley!! We were at Higgins Lake in Upper Michigan – it’s a gorgeous lake!
It’s never too early to reminisce about vacations!!! I love all the bracelets. And if I lived near you, I’d absolutely snap up some of those bouquets — they’re beautiful!
Right?! And thank you – the flowers are so FUN!
What great summer memories! Those bracelets look like so much fun to make.
