Good morning! I hope you had an amazing long weekend! Not gunna lie I’m bouncing back from a rough week! My husband was out of town all last week – so I was riding solo – and on top of it, JP and I came down with some sickness. I’m pretty sure he had croup, me, I was just tired and fatigued.
Anyway – we are refreshed and on the upswing (hopefully no one else gets sick), but tis the season I suppose!
Today, I thought it would be fun to share what’s new with the kiddos! These kids are surely busy and fun, but wow, we are at a tough age when it comes to bickering, loudness and handling emotions. While some days can be trying, my husband and I try to remind ourselves that these days fly quick and we need to enjoy them. So, what better way to remember these beautiful little children of ours then to share what’s new with each of them!
Audrey
Audrey LOVES school! She LOVES her friends and LOVES activities! Audrey is ALWAYS up for doing something and she’s our child who NEVER gets tired. After she was diagnosed with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia as a baby, we had to do endocrinology tests to make sure it was not affecting endocrine function. As a child at these check-ups they would ask, “Is she fatigued or more tired than usual?” I would always chuckle at the question because she couldn’t be farther from that – this girl is a ball of energy and I love it!
Audrey is a fierce competitor- I mean, FIERCE. She takes recess, sports and games very serious almost to the point I worry she’s going to hurt herself! We’ve been working on how to tone it down a smidge as we don’t want her being too hard on herself because she is so competitive! She has a knack for swimming and running – it will be fun to see what she loves to do for fun!
Audrey is a rule follower, which I’m grateful for! She is very good in the classroom and we know we can count on her to behave and tell us the truth with things that happen in the classroom. I trust her very much! She is sweet, kind and loving to all she meets and is always the one in the family to make a new friend!
We always say Audrey will be doing something in law. The girl knows how to get her point across and won’t stop until she’s heard! Have to give her credit for that – to have such persuasive skills at age 7!
JP
JP is our quiet guy when it comes to school! I remember walking into our first conference for him a little nervous how things were going to go – only to find out JP was so “charming”! This doesn’t surprise me too much because I know he is – he is very sweet with others (especially little kiddos) and gentle, but my goodness when he is home he is LOUD! It amazes me how he can shut that off while in school – which is okay with us! As long as they behave outside of the home, we can handle the occasional not so good behavior at home and the LOUDNESS! I laughed with the teacher – no way I said and I just love this line in response from the teacher – “Well it looks like we have John Patrick at school and you have JP at home!” haha yep, that about explains everything!
JP LOVES his sister (and obviously loves Tommy), you can tell he looks up to her and loves playing with her. JP has been LOVING basketball and football recently. He’s been dribbling in our kitchen non-stop and loves to play catch! It’s been fun to watch him do his own thing and come out of his shell a bit! JP is our in-house engineer. He has a knack for building and fixing and an insane memory! We played a logo game on YouTube and he was remembering car logos like – “Oh, that’s Grandma’s car symbol (Toyota) – it’s honestly insane! I’m truly excited for JP to start Kinder next year, but also getting sad these days off are coming to an end.
Tommy
Tommy is turning into a little man. We always laugh at Tommy and try to embrace his littleness as much as we can! He’s such a silly little guy! It is so sad that our last baby is getting so big! How is he starting part-time preschool in the Fall?! It can’t be!
Tommy is a solid kid. He loves fighting and wrestling, but to the point he doesn’t even realize his own strength at times! He makes us laugh – at times we call him a sour patch kid – first he’s salty and wrestling like a crazy man, then he’s sweet giving all the snuggles and love!
Like JP, Tommy loves construction, trucks and building things! He LOVES his siblings, but also loves his alone time with me at home basically becoming my shadow. He is a huge help around the house – I’ll ask him to help me with chores and he is so good about helping me complete them! He loves to play outside and spring/summer can’t come soon enough!
Another impressive thing – Tommy potty trained himself! Yes, he did it all by himself! We tried to get him to do it a couple days over Christmas break, but had no luck – a week later I heard someone in the bathroom upstairs (had to be him because he was the only one home) and there he was using the bathroom! From that moment forward he was using the potty like he’d done it his whole life!
And there you have it, that’s what’s new with our kiddos crew!

Oh my middle son potty trained himself and I just loved that! Sounds like they are all doing well; and we always used to say the same thing. IF they’re going to misbehave I’d rather they do it at home.
