DIY Buffalo Check Christmas Wreath

I never decorated my kitchen for Christmas – I’m not sure if it was because our kitchen was super cluttered and small at our old house, but I am now having fun with some of the extra space we have at our new house.

This year, I wanted to add a little something Christmas-y to our kitchen – I love when people hang wreaths from ribbons on their windows outside, so I decided to get a little creative and do one for our kitchen window that would match the indoor theme we have going on! This wreath was a super easy and inexpensive DIY

First, I started off with a plain wreath I got on sale at Walmart. You can really purchase these anywhere.

When I received these in the mail, they looked a little rough, pictured below:

What is really important is that you “fluff” these wreaths up a bit. Make sure you pull all the individual “branches” apart to give it a fuller look.

Once you pull all the branches apart and fluff it up, next lay them out on a piece of cardboard/newspaper because these are going to get a “flocking” look.

I purchased a can of “snow” because I was curious and I thought it could add a little something to these!

Spray the wreaths a handful of times. I do want to note – this isn’t a TRUE flocking product. Allow drying in between each spray coat.

Once the wreaths dry, bring inside, tie and make a bow out of your favorite ribbon. I purchased my buffalo plaid ribbon from Walmart, but of course could not find the product link!

I couldn’t get a good shot during the day, so sorry for the crummy night picture – but seriously – HOW CUTE did that turn out!

Love the look this gives to our kitchen during the holiday season! Hope this inspires you to make your own wreath custom to your holiday decor scheme!

That’s adorable! I love decorations in the kitchen because that room is where so much time is spent , and yet it is easily forgotten when focusing on the Christmas tree, mantle, etc.

<3 Thank you! Such a great point too - we do spend so much time in there, why not decorate and enjoy it!!
