Happy Monday! Cannot believe it is August – the summer is just flying! Last week we headed to Cedar Point for a quick little trip and honestly it is one I will cherish! The kiddos had THE BEST time – I kept getting comments, “Mom, this is the best vacation ever”, “I never want to leave”, “thank you for bringing us here”, “I’m gunna miss the ocean” – haha! Our quick one day trip was just what we needed. My husband and I were so happy we did it and were already talking about the next time we can go! I’ll start by saying, we got extremely lucky with the weather! What a great time we had!
Cedar Point!
We were up and atom at 5:00 am – packed up to leave around 6:30 ish. The reason we got up so early was because we purchased park admission tickets as a package through the hotel. This package included one hour early entry to the park (9am – 10am) and ride & refresh tickets (which came in handy big time!). We only live about an hour and a half away, but the kiddos were getting so excited! Once we made it to the park entrance, that’s when the kids started freaking out haha!
The drive in was really cool! So neat to drive past all the coasters – great views of the water! We headed to Hotel Breakers to grab our parking pass and tickets (8:45 am)
Even though check-in is not until 4pm, we were able to go to the front desk and pick up tickets, parking pass and unload our bags. What was also great is that they would send a text if a room were to open up and I had the room keys already so we would be able to just head to our room at that time! You could also use the pools and beach if you were still waiting for your room and change in the lobby, but that wasn’t necessary for us!
Hotel Breakers is super close to an entrance only available to Breakers guests. We parked our car and walked right over to the entrance to enjoy the park before it got crowded!
One thing we learned is that Camp Snoopy does not open until 10 am – THERE IS NO EARLY ACCESS FOR THE KIDDIE AREAS, which kind of stinks because that’s what we were looking forward to the most.
This worked out okay because we were able to get settled, see what rides we wanted to go on, use the bathrooms and find the ride and refresh hot spots where we could have access to unlimited drinks all day! THIS WAS HUGE FOR US! One thing to note about the ride and refresh drinks – it came with NO LIDS! This was a struggle having four drinks and only 2 cup holders. Spills did occur.
Knowing what we know now, I wish Andrew went on more rides before the park opened. He LOVES coasters and that would have been the perfect time to do so. He was able to get on a couple, but that would be our plan next time, especially while the kiddos are still young!
10 am – the park opened up and we enjoyed some rides – did not enjoy some others (haha!) What was nice is that we were there mid-week. I think that made a huge difference on the amount of people there – mind you it was still crowded, but I couldn’t imagine a weekend!
We rode some rides, got a bunch of drinks to stay hydrated and had a little mini lunch!
Seeing the pure JOY on their faces was an absolute FAVORITE of Andrew and I. We were saying how much we love this stage in life for them. The littlest things make them SO happy!
Around noon, I received a text that our room was ready! Perfect timing too, the kiddos were getting exhausted. The temperature was about 80 degrees, it was a hot one! So we headed back to the hotel!
We got to the room, so so clean and an awesome view. The kiddos thought we were in Florida, ha!
It was nice to have the porch fully screened – we didn’t have to worry about the kids out on the porch and it kept the bugs away which was great!
We rested our heads, watched some cartoons and ordered lunch at TGIF’s. The restaurant is located on the first level of Hotel Breakers so we were able to walk right down and pick it up!
After resting for a little almost 2 hours – we got ready for the beach and pool!
We had close access to the boardwalk and beach. The sand was super soft and clean!
The water temperature was SO WARM and it was very shallow, so the kiddos were able to have a blast swimming without us worrying too much!
After hanging on the beach, swimming and playing in the sand – we decided to head on over to the pool area!
Breakers has 3 pools – 2 adult pools and one kiddie pool area! They also had a beach bar, so Andrew and I grabbed a drink!
The kiddie area had three slides and a bunch of little spray and play toys!
The kids had a BLAST in this area! They went down the slides non stop and just swam and played around for a while!
Such beautiful views!
After hanging in the heat, we headed back to the room to rest and eat dinner before heading back to the park at night!
This guy passed out immediately!
I ran out to get something in the car and sat and watched the Dragster run for a little bit! I am not a heights person, so I couldn’t believe people actually go on that ride!
We ordered Domino’s (again located in the hotel) and ate some pizza, rested our bellies and bodies before heading back out around 8 p.m.
Cedar Point Shores Waterpark was right next to the hotel and doing a day there would be a blast! The kids were saying they wish they could have gone to that park!
We enjoyed some more rides until the very last minute of the park closing at 10pm! We rode the swing ride as a family, which was the perfect way to end the day!
We walked back over to our hotel and hit the pillow hard! The heat and sun really take it out of you!
The next morning we were planning on hitting the beach and pool before check-out, but it was drizzling. We stopped at Perkin’s restaurant in the lobby for breakfast and then headed to the Starbucks, also located in the lobby. It was an actual Starbucks not just one where they serve a handful of drinks and food.
After grabbing coffee, we walked past the arcade and stopped in to play some games. The kiddos had a blast playing in the game room and were just so excited over the smallest things – again making me wish they could stay this little FOREVER!
We headed back up to the room, packed up and checked out at 11 to make it home a little after lunch. Audrey was crying in the Breakers parking lot, we thought it was because JP hit the automatic door opener button on the way out and she said, “No, that’s not why I’m crying and upset. I’m crying because I don’t want to leave Cedar Point.” Ugh, our hearts broke, she and all of us truly had the best time! A trip we will truly cherish and remember for a LOONNNGGG TIME! Can’t wait to go back and I know the kids are too. When we got home they asked if we could go back because it was the best vacation ever.

It makes the trip when the kids have fun
It sure does! Their energy and excitement made it 1000x better!
I loved trips like this when I was a kid. We used to always go to Six Flags St. Louis and we would stay at the Holiday Inn near the entrance to the park and throughout the trip we’d head back and nap as needed. I wish more people would prioritize resting during theme park visits. lol!
Do you plan on taking the kids to Disney at some point??
